• Make sure you are well rested and fit before you enter, because it is VAST. Also make sure you are well hydrated before you start, because the walking and the airconditioning will make you feel very dried out. What to see:
• (a) You pay for tickets and enter the escalators on level -2. You go up to level -1. This is the ONLY PLACE where you can easily move from one wing of the museum (there are three wings) to another wing, unless you want to walk for kilometres. No jokes.
• (b) Starting in the Sully wing (Aile Sully), on the basement (level -1), check out the Medieval Moat in the Medieval Louvre section. Skip the rest. If you try to see everything, you will collapse and die at some point.
• (c) If (and only if) you want to see some ancient Egyptian stuff, go upstairs to Level 0 (ground floor). Seeing the Egyptian stuff will involve a MASSIVE amount of EXTRA WALKING and EXTRA BACKTRACKING. You have been warned.
• (d) If you're smart and want to skip the Egyptian stuff, retrace your steps (head back towards where you entered, but not all the way). After you pass the toilets on your right, you should see a passage leading to Lift/Elevator/Ascenseur G (not H!). Take the lift up one floor to level 0.
• (e) On level 0, you will find yourself in room A. Head to room B, then room C, then room D and next room 10.
• (f) In room 10, turn left into room 9. Move into room 8.
• (g) In room 8, turn right and head past the toilets into room 6, which is part of the Cour Khorsabad.
• (h) In the Cour Khorsabad, check out the cool Mesopotamian stuff there. Very Indiana Jones. Hammurabi's Law is in room 3 of the Cour Khorsabad. Maybe you studied that in school. Just next door to the Cour Khorsabad there is the Cour Puget and Cour Marly, which should not be missed because they are beautiful spaces, full of nice sculptures of naked people.
• (i) Starting in room 18 of the Cour Marly, go up the stairs to the lift R and go up to level 1.
• (j) Find room 67. It should be near the lift. Room 67 connects to two rooms - room 68 & room 72. Go to room 72.
• (k) From room 72, find your way to room 73, then to room 74. Turn left because you are looking for the apartments of Napoleon III, which sort of start in room 82 and continue to room 87. They are totally over the top and cool.
• (l) Now your work is done. Everything else is optional. Including the second floor. There is a cool lesbian painting on level 2 in room 10 of the Richelieu wing (it's not actually lesbian, by the way).
• (m) If you want to see the Mona Lisa (La Joconde), you will have to go back down to the Entresol (-1) level and switch to the Denon wing. Take the lift to Level 0. Change lifts and go up to Level 1 (or take the stairs if you're in a hurry). The Mona Lisa is in room 7 of the Denon wing.
